In this 8 week program, I illuminate the path to recovery from MECFS. My program is based on 4 foundational principles: Nervous System Reshaping, The Expansion/Contraction Cycle, Supporting the Body, & Rediscovering Your Wholeness. You will learn how to establish a baseline, pace and expand that baseline over and over, all while engaging symptoms in a way that propels you forward, instead of setting you back.

This is Our Story

All my life, for as long as I can remember, I have been a “feeler” and “healer.” I have always had a hyper-sensitivity to others feelings, and the ability to read their emotional state. This was a blessing and a curse. However, it wasn’t until my walk with MECFS that I learned how to lean into my own emotional experience, and read my own emotional state; which it turned out I’d been disconnected from most of my life. After learning how to heal myself from an illness as complex as MECFS, I feel as if the garden of my true gifts is in full bloom. No longer seek- ing to save, but only to assist in helping someone help themselves, I am able to draw from a pool of strength to support others, which I am constantly pouring back into through self-care, self-growth, strong boundaries and a whole lot of love.

The Curriculum

Week 1: Understanding The Illness

This week you will learn about the nature of MECFS, what is it, how it is it triggered, and perpetuated in the body. You will learn about Limbic Kindling, and the bi-directional nature of MECFS. I will discuss the Autonomic Nervous System, and teach you about the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches which is vital to healing MECFS. You will learn about the art of balance as a method of healing, why our emotions matter in recovery, and the finally, the importance of a mindfulness meditation practice.

Week 2: Reshaping The Nervous System

This week you will learn about the nature of MECFS, what is it, how it is it triggered, and perpetuated in the body. You will learn about Limbic Kindling, and the bi-directional nature of MECFS. I will discuss the Autonomic Nervous System, and teach you about the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches which is vital to healing MECFS. You will learn about the art of balance as a method of healing, why our emotions matter in recovery, and the finally, the importance of a mindfulness meditation practice.

Week 3: Living Within The Soft Fence

All the brain-retraining in the world won’t bring about recovery if you live beyond your energy limits and diminish your ATP storage every day. This week, you will unlock the second half of the recovery puzzle, by learning how to establish a baseline through a myriad of tools so that you can begin to stabilize your body and mind. You will also learn how to pace the RIGHT way, for RECOVERY and not to COPE. I will discuss the difference between healing and curing an illness, as well as the difference between coping and recovering. Lastly, I will discuss the controversial method of heart monitoring as a means to pacing.

Week 4: Self-Guided Exposure Therapy

This week you will learn about the nature of MECFS, what is it, how it is it triggered, and perpetuated in the body. You will learn about Limbic Kindling, and the bi-directional nature of MECFS. I will discuss the Autonomic Nervous System, and teach you about the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches which is vital to healing MECFS. You will learn about the art of balance as a method of healing, why our emotions matter in recovery, and the finally, the importance of a mindfulness meditation practice.

Week 5: Restoring Our Relationship To Sleep

This week, you will learn the science of waking, dreaming and sleeping: everything from REM and DEEP WAVE sleep cycles, how sleep is manifested in the brain, and what happens in the body when we don’t get enough rest. Non-restorative sleep is one of the tell-tale signs of MECFS, and one of the most frustrating aspects of it as well. I will provide several medical interventions currently available for aiding sleep, and talk about the importance of proper sleep hygiene, behaviors and cultivating a healing mindset around sleep. You will learn about the POWER of lumen therapy, darkness baths and shadow work, while diving deep into the spiritual side of sleep, and how to restore your relationship to it through MECFS. Lastly, I will discuss BRAC cycles and how you can use them to recover.

Week 6: Supporting The Body

You’ve already learned the two foundational pieces for recovering from MECFS: nervous system reshaping and establishing a baseline, pacing and grading activity the right way. The other huge piece of recovery comes from supporting the body in its quest to heal itself. This week, you will learn how to support the body in its secondary dysfunctions; optimizing cellular, cognitive, endocrine, and autonomic function. I’ll discuss how to reduce your allostatic load, and deal with burdens like mold, heavy metals, & viruses etc. I’ll discuss supplements and medications that can be used to support the body. Lastly, I’ll bring into focus the MTHFR gene mutation and its relationship to MECFS.

Week 7: The Power of Poly Vagal Theory

Circling back to week 1, and building on what you’ve learned in the last 6 weeks, we go much deeper into nervous system work by studying Poly Vagal Theory. You will learn the pillars of PVT, and the nervous system states that occur at different times due to different triggers. You will also learn how to map your autonomic ladder so that you can know at any and all times, where you are on it and how to bring yourself closer towards regulation. I will teach 10 regulating resources that will become daily tools for recovery. I’ll discuss the difference between coping and regulating emotions, as well as blended states of the nervous system. Finally you will learn about SIFTING and how to use this when symptomatic to come out of a crash faster.

Week 8: Personal Transformation

In the final week of The Edison Effect, I will ask you to look inward, and redefine the meaning of this illness in a new light. You’ll learn about the vagus nerve and how to effect it so as to again, bring about more nervous system regulation. Beyond that, I will shed light on the internal saboteurs, cognitive distortions, and self-limiting beliefs that may have contributed to you getting sick, be keeping you sick, and propel you back into sickness once well, if you don’t address them. You’ll learn about attachment theory and how to heal it. Lastly, all you have learned will be tied together, as you embark on a new journey to rediscover your wholeness, as a truly authentic you, on the other side of MECFS.

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

Yes, absolutely! The calls are 75 minutes and are held on Zoom, on Thursdays at 9 a.m EST. If the group is small and this time does not accommodate more than 50% of the cohort, we will find a time to works for the majority. You can submit a question in advance to be answered whether you are there or not. if you are unable to participate due to your health or other circumstances, you can watch the call on replay. It will be sent to you via LINK by email the following day.

No worries, my warrior friend! The course IS a cohort course, which means you are taking it at the same time as others, to provide peer support and camaraderie, however, if you cannot keep the pace, you can take your time as needed. I assure you 90% of your questions will be addressed in the zoom calls when you watch them later on. Remember, you can come back as you recover and revisit the course at different levels of recovery to draw more insights.
Each week, I encourage you collect your thoughts and send me ONE question to be addressed in the live call that week. (Remember we have several participants and I want to be sure everyone’s question is addressed). Other questions can be asked in the Community Center where everyone will be “hanging out” sharing their experience and their wins!
There are 5 videos per week for 8 weeks. You are to watch ONE and ONLY ONE video per day. The videos range from 15-40 min in length, but on average are around 20 minutes long. So you can expect to invest less than an hour a day to the course. (Not including the time you spend implementing the changes). One day of the week is the group coaching call, which is your day off from video lessons. The other day is for rest and integrating all you’ve learned.
Yes, there are daily assignments, intended to help you build awareness around your recovery, as well as put into action the steps it takes to get well again. Most are short written assignments that can be done in a matter of minutes. Others are action tasks to practice in order to build recovery.
Not everyone is a self-starter, and when you are very sick, sometimes 1 on 1 support is needed. I totally understand that! If you need more personal support, you can book a private coaching session with me at any time here on Podia.
In a word, YES, you can. Once you understand the nature of MECFS and how the illness is triggered and perpetuated, you can take steps to reverse it and unravel it. I firmly believe whether you’ve been sick 6 months or 60 years, you can get well. The neural anchors are deeper when you’ve been sicker longer, and the body may need a bit more time to bounce back, but the body WANTS to heal and is ALWAYS seeking to find balance.
